Olivia Gatt

Olivia Gatt is an award-winning creative leader and visual problem solver, specialising in creative direction and design. Olivia creates from a base of art and design principles, colour theory, and a refined creative intuition. These philosophies guide and define her approach to design.

As a creative and inspiring storyteller, Olivia finds and kindles passion and excitement in every project, motivating teams to dream big.

Olivia’s strategic and sophisticated approach develops beautiful and functional work. She applies her experience and insight into human-centred design to foster innovation, actualise ideas and achieve intended results.

At Ellis Jones, Olivia is pursuing a desire to do work that achieves positive social and environmental impact. She is responsible for driving the performance and impact of the design studio. Her recent experience includes:

– Creative direction on WorkSafe Victoria’s workplace mental health strategy.

– Visualising the Abbotsford Convent Masterplan in visual and experiential activations.

– Refining and applying Ainslie and Gorman’s rebrand to documents such as the Strategic Plan.

– Leading creative direction for Cleanaway’s sustainability branding and reporting.

Prior to Ellis Jones, Olivia’s experience included the technology, banking, FMCG, arts and government sectors, in a range of execution and creative leadership roles.

She has also worked across multiple industries within the design and creative landscape and has held roles such as art director at advertising giant, Clemenger BBDO, and creative manger of FMCG market leader, Bondi Sands. Her former agency clients include NAB, Myer, Amazon, and Museums Victoria.

Olivia has worked on large scale branding projects, requiring the ability to conceive powerful creative concepts and deliver across hundreds of touch points. Her rebranding and brand reshaping work required rigorous project management and delivery. Prominent examples are NAB’s introduction of the star silhouette across all major media platforms to Myer’s reinvention of fashion and beauty in a COVID-normal world.

Olivia facilitates support networks for young people in the advertising and design industry, through her time as Chair of Youngbloods Victoria, being an active member of MADC’s The Aunties, mentoring young creatives, and as an educational guest speaker and lecturer at institutions including RMIT, Billy Blue College of Design, Collarts, and New Jersey Institute of Technology.

Olivia holds a Bachelor of Communication Design from Billy Blue College of Design and a Diploma of Graphic Design from CATC Design School.
