Australians in force at COP 15. Melbourne Lord Mayor, Robert Doyle and Princess Mary. Cr Doyle was invited to represent cities worldwide as part of the Copenhagen Climate Summit for Mayors which ran concurrently with the larger and perhaps less fruitful United Nations Climate Change Conference.

The City of Melbourne is one of the more influential participants in the C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group.
Cities and urban areas consume 75 per cent of the world’s energy and produce up to 75 per cent of its greenhouse gas emissions. Major, fast growing capitals like Melbourne need to play a central role in policy development at a national level.
