Melbourne is a city transformed. It is Australia’s cultural hub, a world city possessing a vibrant arts and design scene. From the Australian Open and Grand Prix, to famous fashion, arts, film and comedy festivals, Melbourne has become a brand synonymous with exciting and rewarding experiences. The city’s local government council, City of Melbourne is responsible for administrating much of the city’s corporate and business setting as well as vibrant social and cultural activities in order to maintain Melbourne’s reputation as “The World’s Most Livable City”.

Ellis Jones has been working with the City of Melbourne since 2003, during which time we have provided strategic communication, media and stakeholder relations, issues management, writing and training services to the Office of the Lord Mayor and the administration.

Ellis Jones has provided a range of communication services directly to the Office of the Lord Mayor and Deputy Lord Mayor as well as the City of Melbourne administration including:

  • Communication strategy and advice
  • Media and stakeholder relations
  • Speech writing (solely responsible for Deputy and Lord Mayor speeches for over six years)
  • Diplomatic and external materials production
  • Writing training for corporate communications staff

It is my pleasure to acknowledge the services provided to me and to my office by Ellis Jones.
John So – Former Lord Mayor of Melbourne

By promoting the City in communication targeted to each of its diverse stakeholder groups, we have enjoyed being a contributor to the Melbourne’s rise to global consciousness. We have amassed a depth of knowledge of city stakeholders, interests, strategy and events unmatched by any other organisation in our field. Moreover, we were honoured to be part of the development and telling of one of the most  brilliant political success stories in modern Australian history: cheered at the Commonwealth Games, admired across the Asia-Pacific, John So was voted World Mayor in 2006. Ellis Jones was also responsible for speech note development for subsequent Lord Mayor, Robert Doyle.
