Client

Mercy Health is a Catholic organisation employing over 5,000 people who provide acute and sub-acute hospital care, aged care, mental health programs, maternity and specialist women’s health services, early parenting services, home care services and health worker training and development. Mercy Health cares for communities in Victoria, southern New South Wales, Western Australia and the Australian Capital Territory. 

Challenge

Traditionally a quiet achiever, Mercy Health identified a need to raise the profile of its achievements in Melbourne’s west to ensure government, community and health sector representatives are aware of the company’s particular competencies, services and related positive outcomes. 

Response

Desktop investigation, stakeholder interviews and observational research led to the recommended integrated communications approach comprising:

  • Brand and service positioning within a vision for health in greater Melbourne’s west
  • Integrated multilevel government relations, stakeholder engagement, and employee advocacy strategy and tactics
  • Community campaign to raise awareness of the Urgent Need Appeal as well as palliative care competencies and focus on a just society

Outcome

Ellis Jones’ knowledge of health and aged care, social sector experience and government relations expertise gave us a unique ability to inform Mercy’s approach to engagement and public relations, linking to other strategic work in a pivotal year.
